Paris

Science Muesum
A very historical and fascinating city, but I have to say I was not very impressed and of all the large cities around Europe that we’ve been in this was my least favorite and it seemed to be the most dirty (not quite as bad as Cairo...but that’s Africa) and the metro system was the most confusing and expensive system we’ve used to date.  We met as many rude, indignant and useless people as we did nice and helpful people….a 50/50 ratio doesn’t seem very good to me?!   one little note – my French friend here (Nicolas), helped us plan our trip to Paris; he gave us places to see, the best ice cream place, restaurants, metro and recommendations of the best sites in Paris.  It’s too bad that his fellow countrymen weren’t as kind and helpful as him and the other French families we have made friendships with (But they don’t live in Paris)
I know we are spoiled being English speaking Americans, but every international museum we’ve been to has had placards in the national language and the business language (which happens to be English) – not the Louvre, not the science museum, nothing…I take that back, Notre Dame had bilingual placards.  It seemed they went out of their way to make everything French (not that I’m opposed to that, it’s just not typical for Europe and it was quite inconvenient)   but other than dealing with some locals, we had a wonderful time exploring and sightseeing.  We saw Notre Dame, Science Museum, Louvre, Eiffel Tower and ate at bakery’s and cafĂ©’s around Paris.  We decided it was a good place to visit, but wouldn’t want to live there.
