Autumn has arrived!

the bells rang the whole time they raised the domes
local friend Sasha

There’s a tell tale sign when autumn has arrived…yes; the changing of the colors, the brisk fresh air, the children bundled up in snow suits.   But the Autumn Celebration is to make sure we all know that we’ve entered a new season.  The smell of shashleek enters the air, children’s games and bounce houses fill the town square and of course the stage with booming music and live entertainment.
The church has been in construction since before we arrived, the 4 small domes were finally added!

Our friends that live or have lived in Slavutich who've watched the local entertainment know how good it can be, AND at times you’re trying to comprehend what you just witnessed.  Just when we’ve thought we’ve seen it all, we were surprised once again; at one point as I looked over to Nichole, I noticed her jaw had dropped about as far as mine had (it was a very risque dance along with a very interesting "countries" beauty contest (Russia, America, Spain and Arabia scored high marks with the crowd))…Anyway, you gotta love a country that celebrates every season with a kick off to commensurate its beginning.  Ellie performed two dances during the event and we of course ate a kilo of shashleek.  Ahhh, what we’ll miss when we return home.

Here is a collection of pictures that capture a beautiful fall ride in the Slavutich forest!
